Selected De Rotterdam InteriorThursday 06 Sep '12
Following a two staged European Tender GROUP A in cooperation with Studio Makkink & Bey and Roukens + Van Gils, has been selected out of 32 entries for the Interior Design of the 40,000 sqm new municipal offices in De Rotterdam on the Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam.
The building is a design by OMA and will be completed in the course of 2014. The Municipality of Rotterdam as prime tenant, is client for the interior and will most likely move in early 2015.
The municipal offices will occupy 33 floors in the middle one of the three towers. The design envisages an interior reflecting a ‘vertical city’ linking ‘urban hubs’ for collective use, meeting and interaction.
The design and fit-out of the ‘urban hubs’ is driven by the municipal ‘Social-Return-On-Investment’-initiative, and will be inspired by Rotterdam’s cultural diversity and colourfull communities.
