For the office of the British Telecom Company, housed in an existing office building on the outskirts of Amsterdam, GROUP A designed an extensive interior concept. The assignment comprehended a large scale interior design, encompassing the entrance, the company restaurant and the actual office floors. The design was developed through extensive workshops with representatives of the different departments of BT Netherlands, as well as tested against the 'BT Global Services Office Environment Design Guideline', the global handbook appearance of the brand BT is described. Implementing these guidelines was always done with the results of the workshops in the back of our minds, thus creating a design which fits the global identity of the brand BT and at the same time fits all the specific local needs. Our search for a technically convincing and well designed office desk for BT ended in the design for the Smart Desk. Together with the Smart Desk, Group A developed a special cabinet module for BT, serving as a personal cloakroom. The modular cabinets can be joined together across the office floors.
